< Santa Ana Mountains Ecosystem >

In the fall of 1937, Willis E. Pequegnat began fieldwork on The Biota of the Santa Ana Mountains, a thorough account of flora and fauna found in the range. In 1951, his work was published in the Journal of Entomology and Zoology, Vol. 42, Nos. 3 and 4, Zoology Department, Pomona College, Claremont, California. The biota, which includes condor observations, serves as a baseline for researchers and an inspiration to anyone who chooses to explore this misunderstood and forgotten range.
